We had a great time camping with Rocky and Bullwinkle this year (our first in a popup). It took me a while, but I finally tallied it all up.

We took 9 trips;
for a total of 37 days;
11 campgrounds;
4 campgrounds twice.

Our longest time out was two weeks where we visited the state of Virginia. We visited 6 of the campgrounds during that one trip out.

4/13 - Springfield CG, Andeson SC
4/21-4/22 Springfield CG, Anderson SC
5/11-5/13 Cane Creek, Waxhaw NC
6/1-6/3 Cane Creek, Waxhaw NC
6/8-6/10 Kings Mountain, Kings Mountain SC
7/13 - Claytor Lake St Pk, VA
7/14-7/16 Douthat St Pk, VA
7/17-7/19 Jellystone CG, Luray VA
7/20-7/22 Willimasburg KOA, VA
7/23-7/25 Toms Cove Park, Chincoteague VA
7/26-7/27 Occoneechee, VA
8/10-8/12 Black Forest, Cedar Mountain, NC
9/13 Claytor Lake St Pk, VA
9/14-9/16 Douthat St Pk, VA (PopUp Times Group)
9/21-9/23 Myrtle Beach St Pk, SC

We had a couple of memorable moments: one was meeting the wonderful people from the PopUp Times message board at Douthat State Park. The other memorable time was when we stood in a salt marsh for two hours in the early morning waiting for the pony swim at Chincoteague. Traipsing through the salt marsh is not something that you would forget.

Our worst moment had to be at the start of our two week vacation. The first night's drive to Claytor Lake had us pulling in at 11:00pm.
We were late getting out on the road to begin with and then about an hour or so away from Claytor Lake our lights went out. This was not fun. Three gas stations that we stopped at did not have any fuses. We finally stopped at a Food Lion, of all places, and found the fuses that we needed. Popped one in and off we went....for about one mile. Lights out again! No more fuses! We determined that the flashers worked, so we slowly trudged along with the flashers on. We pulled over when any cars came by and started back up when they were gone. YUCK!!

Best campground: Almost all of the campgrounds were very nice.
Worst campground: I would have to say that Toms Cove was probably the worst because of the magnitude of all the people. There are thousands of people that flock to this timy town for the Pony Swim and Auction. Toms Cove was absolutely full. While the neighbors were close, our site wasn't as cramped as others. With the amount of people they had, you can guess how clean the showers were.

All in all we had a great time and can't wait to start again in 2002
